Health and Economic Implications of Inactivity

It's amazing how cessation of economic activities due to lockdown measure implemented by several authorities around the world (due to the COVID-19 Pandemic) has impacted the economy; according to the Consumer News & Business Channel (CNBC), "world trade volume could once again plummet this year", the International Monetary Fund (IMF) says " the global economy will shrink by 3% this year" , the IMF also stated that "the decline is the worst since the Great Depression of the 1930s". "Continuous and incessant economic activities", is the panacea.
What can we learn from this (downturn due to cessation in economic activities), as regards Health? Firstly, a Public Health problem can impact the economy, and consequently affect our livelihood; secondly, from the personal health perspective, inactivity can affect our health just as economic inactivity can affect our economy. It was Albert Einstein that said "Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance, you must keep moving". The body deteriorates with little or no activity. A lifestyle of little or no physical activity (also known as sedentary lifestyle) is associated with several chronic diseases such as Type 2 Diabetes, Obesity, Stroke, Heart Diseases, certain Cancers, Osteoporosis, etc. Being physically active on the other hand, has enormous benefits. You can stay physically active (even during the lockdown) by doing some workout at home, doing domestic chores, standing up or moving around when talking on the phone, going for a walk in your neighborhood, using the stairway instead of the elevator (if you live in such a house), always remember to get up and move around from time to time. We should also keep our minds active & healthy by learning daily, as well as sharing good information, reflecting on our abilities, properly coping with stress, engaging in reasonable discussion, etc.
