Scientists have been able to identify the major factors that determine how healthy or sick a person is, or will be...πͺ
...these factors, also known as the major determinants of health are: Heredity, Human Behavior/Lifestyle, Healthcare and the Environment π
Let's talk about the environment; one of the simplest and best definition of "environment", is one my professor π gave me
He defined the environment as "the totality of our surrounding", that is everything that surrounds us: the air we breathe, land, water, other people, etc.
The environment as one major determinant of health has physical, biological and psychosocial components.
The physical (in-animate or non-living) components of the environment include: Air, weather, climate, soil, water, shelter, chemicals, clothing, pollutants, etc
Biological (living) components of the environment include: Plants, animals, micro-organisms,etc. all of which can affect our health for good or bad
Psychosocial (psychological and social) components of the environment include: cultural values, organizations, economic status, educational status, others, stress, etc.
All of which can affect our health in one way or the other.π€·πΏ♂
Just like Charlie Tremendous Jones said, "You will be the same person in five years as you are today, except for the people you meet and the books you read".π€ π
π« Indeed your environment matters when it comes to health and even wealth.
I hope you got value from this. Thanks.❤
